I was a displaced mechanic working in car management where I had to learn to use a computer and quickly took over computer operation and management. If you worked in system and network administration in the 1990s, you probably knew about security whether you wanted to or not. I liked it and gradually turned my attention to security. I need to learn fast when I'm effectively in the tech industry. I discovered local user groups and learned a lot from them. When I had something to share I shared it and thus started my long term involvement in the community.
I've known the ex-CEO and ex-COO for many years and we made Germany Email Database several attempts to find a place for me in the early 1990s. Eventually Ron asked me if I was interested in becoming the first Product Manager and the timing was perfect so I joined in to be the first to hold the title of Product Manager. My role has evolved since then. Speak at local safety events. Many people in the hacker and security community gathered in 2010 and people started discussing topics that were rejected at large conferences. Some of us looked and saw some interesting ideas so we decided to provide a place for people to share their demos and discussions.
Although there have been some discussions about how to make the conference better, we are not planning to create a series. We certainly never expected to launch a global movement. Many people have managed and organized security across the globe over the years but thanks in no small part to my great employer then and since the very beginning. Today I am responsible for all calendar and map updates and management. I answered most of the incoming queries. I lead the conversation with all potential new organizers to review the rules and expectations and answer their questions while mentoring and mentoring event organizers.
